Welcome to our home!

 

Our family has truly enjoyed the 12 years that we’ve spent at 4243 Pine Point Rd.  When we purchased this property in 2003, it was three years into the making, and not entirely complete.  The original owners had purchased this double lot with the intention of making it  their final dream home.  They poured themselves into the construction, adding many fine details and state of the art innovations.  3 years later when we came along and their lives had changed, we took over their dream. 

 Our main goal was to make this home carefree, welcoming and comfortable, with as little upkeep as possible.  Together with designer Mark Suess, we intentionally created space that would be friendly, casual, functional,  and beautiful.  We’ve never needed a cleaning service  because of this thoughtful planning and the simplicity of materials chosen.  Having 2  laundry rooms is something I wouldn’t do without.  We added new, large capacity units upstairs and love having another set on the main floor/mud room for outdoor clothing and main floor use.  We removed original exterior wood soffits/fascia and decorative end caps and re-designed them so that the entire exterior would be maintenance free.  The roof was replaced in 2013 with 50-year shingles, as well as garage doors.  We added additional copper gutters and granite edging which highlights all of the landscaping.

 My husband and I both grew up on water, and we knew  that having a home with water access was very important to us, but we were wary of living on the river.  This property was the only one that was appealing because it was set back far enough from the river for privacy, with the ability to still enjoy daily the beauty of river life.  When we purchased the property we had small children, so this home was ideal because the river (south side of Pine Point) is slow moving and safe for swimming.  We had plans for constructing a pool and the 3+acre lot was ideal.  We intended to build an additional out building with a pool cabana, something that is possible because of our acreage.  

 Our family enjoyed countless hours around the fire pit,   and the kids loved mini biking, four wheeling, snowmobiling, and building leaf and snow forts as the seasons changed. We believe we fully enjoyed country   life without being too far from school and town.  Having a hot tub off the master bedroom was an unexpected blessing.  The ease and simplicity makes daily use optimal and we have found that a dip in the hot tub is the best prelude to a good night’s rest.  The south facing back patio is ideal for entertaining, providing breathtaking views of the river.  8 glass doors lead from the 4-season  porch and can be opened and secured, making additional indoor/outdoor seating for parties.   

We love to entertain in this home and friends and family usually choose it as the perfect gathering place for any occasion— grad party, reunion, wedding, or informal gathering.  If you can coax people into leaving the welcoming kitchen area, they find the lot and view to be exceptional. 

 As we continue to travel and meet new people, it is a joy to share that we live on the Mississippi as it has worldwide renown and has been a point of connection that we will surely miss.
